Ninja All-Stars - Scorpion Clan

Board Games – I’ve written about Ninja All-Stars quite a bit, I love the miniatures and the look of the game. The dice mechanic still bugs me but the fact that I can use these in Super Dungeon Explore helps make up for that. I’ve been painting up all the minis in my collection of games from Sodapop Miniature/Ninja Division because my kids are finally old enough to enjoy the game and I have a reason to paint up these cute little miniatures.

Rather than paint up the basic clans as the elemental shrines I opted to paint each clan up like a ninja from pop culture I like. With each of the clans I’m pulling out any Ronin that might look good in the same scheme and painting them up at the same time. Using a combination of traditional paint and Citadel’s Contrast line I've been able to make these look pretty good quickly. One trick I’ve learned with the contrast paint is if you put a base color down and use the contrast as a heavy wash you can get some really vibrant colors. I’ve found using the suggested special primer and just Contrast give you more of a washed out water color look which isn’t something I want on most things I paint.

This clan is based on the color scheme of Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Lately I’ve been all about black and yellow as a scheme, probably because this year I wanted to focus on Necromunda (year of the rat and all) but haven’t been able to focus on a game that really requires a regular group to make the most of.
