Deep Dive - The Refuge

Board Games – Often I get board games crossing my painting table that I’ve never heard of, The Refuge is one of those games. Doing a little digging this beautiful game can be played co-op or competitively as players take control of a dive team that has to battle a nasty tentacle monster.
This game is really nice looking. The models are plentiful and very detailed and the graphic design really feels like a deep sea scare fest. While I was painting this I watched Deep Star Six on Amazon, its an older movie that feels very much like Alien under the sea. The movie was surprisingly good right up to the monster reveal and then it went downhill fast.
For the minis I tried to match the card art while keeping each of the divers unique looking. To get the old gold effect on the helmets I used me new favorite trick of applying Aggros Dunes Contrast paint over a gunmetal base. The Kraken and it’s tentacles are matched to the pinky-red color that is printed on the board with a bit f Nurgle’s Rot applied to make it looks slimy.
