Dark Souls - Vordt of the Boreal Valley

Board Games – Vordt is another expansion for the Dark Souls board game. It’s an interesting model as it appears to be some type of mount but is most definitely humanoid. I’m at a bit of a loss as I’m not a huge video gamer anymore and haven’t had a chance to play this game but I have enjoyed painting the models.

The images I found for this character all look mostly silver and slightly ghostly. I get the impression is probably has that jerky type movement that’s so popular with supernatural movies and games. Translating that intoa static model is a bit tricky but I’m pretty happy with the end result.

I started with a gunmetal base which is my go to anytime I’m painting a metallic. It gives a darker color that takes wash well and makes highlighting easier. To get the otherworldly look to the metal I opted for a Corelia Greenshade wash instead of the traditional Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade. Sterling silver created the bright highlight to make the armor plates pop. I added some browns and greens for the skirt and saddle which help to give the model some variation. Large mostly metallic models really need visual breaks in my opinion.
