Board Games – The 8-Bit video game lineage of Super Dungeon Explore is really obvious when you look at the Caverns of Roxor box set, almost all that characters had striking similarities to Mario Brothers and Legend of Zelda. The Rocktop Gang was a cool throw-back to the Koopa Troopas however Roxor seemed to miss the mark as a Bowser clone. Later on they released the Testudo Tower boss expansion which felt closer to the mark. After years of sitting on my shelf I finally had a chance to get some paint on these.
From what I can gather after Ninja Division releases Super Dungeon Explore: Devil Island, which is a package that gets the second edition rules back into the wild so new players can get the game; they’ll be putting out a second set that includes the revised arcade rules. This is part of their plan to generate capital to deliver the floundering kickstarters, hopefully it works out because the property is really great and I honestly prefer the look of these to Arcadia Quest.
