Deep Blue - Lil' Boats

Board Games – Some games come with really nice pawns. I remember as a kid always gravitating toward the games that had cool pieces I could play with. My grandparent’s board game collection had plenty of random buttons or other substitute parts because so many kids thought the same thing. Not to long ago I was cleaning out my old lego case to pass along to my son and happened to find a Monopoly car, Sorry green pawn, several dice, a domino and a Life car, I imagine my fondest for these particular pieces saw they finding their way to a lego adventure and never back to the box they belonged in. The point is cool parts make for cool games.

The latest board game to cross my painting table is Deep Blue by Days of Wonder. I’m a little jealous as this game seem so cool. You play as a salvage company that has to assemble a crew to grab the most stuff. It’s described as an engine builder with cool little plastic boats. The boats are brightly colored plastic and look great by themselves. However the board is so well illustrated that putting a little paint on the boats to make them look a little more part of the whole does wonders.
