Ultramarines

Warhammer 40,000 - Collecting an army for Warhammer can be a massive commitment, particularly if you invest in a specific faction. Some players are happy to just build a 2000 point force and play with it until they find something else they want to play. But most players will pick a faction and stick with it for a very long time. I mean my own space marine force is approaching full chapter strength - I’ll never field it all together but at this point it’s a matter of just having three of each unit option just in case.

This batch of Ultramarines should fill out my friend’s “Primaris” Space Marine force. I’ve been painting elements of this off and on since before COVID hit so he’s got a really solid collection to play with.

Ultramarines - New Recruits

Warhammer 40,000 – The Ultramarines force I’ve been painting just got some new recruits. The gun platform and ATV are some of the newer models in the range. Pretty simple models that add Primaris Elements to the force that were sorely missed in the initial waves.

The gun platform is cool but I don’t know that it was really needed. The ATV is a neat model that fits with a very popular kit-bash that turn the old bikes into ATV’s.

Warhammer 40,000 – The Space Marine codex dropped earlier this month and for the first time in a long time all 9 of the original chapters are included as well as Deathwatch.

Space El Camino - Ultramarines Latest Ride

Warhammer 40,000 – The Impulsor is an odd vehicle. As one of the only reasonable transport options for Primaris Marines it's becoming more popular. I suppose the open back makes sense for rapid deployment but not so much for protection, although the passengers being encased in power armor makes a solid argument for them not needing a roof I suppose.

Also in this batch of the boys in blue are a few more eliminators. This time around they are equipped with the las-fusiles. This are interesting choices, the models have a wire that connects to the scope which looks pretty cool. To make them different than the standard plasma glow I went with green on the exposed coil.

Ultramarines - Primaris Upgrades

Warhammer 40,000 – On of my clients has been collecting an Ultramarine Primaris force. Every few months he sends over a few more models to add to the army. This time around he sent over some Eliminators, Incursors, Captains and an Ancient.

But often it’s because they acquired a new piece for their collection and want it to match with the rest of their force.

Primarily Primaris Space Marines - 100PL/2000Pts

Warhammer 40,000 – Eighth Edition saw the birth of Primaris Space Marines, part of moving the story forward and adding new "scaled up" Space Marines to the model line. To be honest I was on the fence about them. The bigger models were ok, and some of the designs were unique and cool, but for the most part I didn't see them as being worth the points investment or monetary investment to add them to my existing Space Marine force.
