Blackstone Fortress - Traitor Command
/Warhammer 40,000 – The sculpts for Blackstone Fortress continue to impress me. In the days of old push fit kits like these would have been rather flat and lacking in detail, no so anymore. Of course the trade-off for the dynamic poses these kits offer is the lack of customization. Of course plastic kits are easier to work with then metal or resin and as such if you were inclined to hack the models up you can do so and potentially find parts to tweak the kits. Being as these are intended to be board game pieces representing a specific character I don’t think the single pose matters much.
I really like these two models and hope that eventually a full traitor guard army is available to ally in with the various Chaos armies. While it’s not overly difficult to convert your own models, having official releases to work with with all the extra detail is super helpful.
Paint on these two follows what I did with the core set guardsmen, black cloth, red details and some leather straps. I stuck with the blue gravel effect on the base to reflect the otherworldly nature of the Blackstone Fortress.
