A Different Custodes Look

Warhammer 40,000 – Purple and gold just look good together, I was very happy that this Adeptus Custodes project uses a different color scheme than the traditional gold, red and black. I’m just getting back to a regular 40K rotation so I’m not sure what the sudden interest in Custodes is all about but this force is so nice looking that I’m tempted to look at building a similar force. (Probably won’t but who knows)

Custodes Dominate the Meta?

Warhammer 40,000 – I’m not sure this headline is entirely accurate, but it seems like it could be the case given the number of Custodes projects I’m seeing has increased significantly.

This project is all resin from Forgeworld, painted in the traditional color scheme.

Custodes - Additions

Warhammer 40,000 – I’ve had this Custodes force on my table for some time. I opted to break it up into several smaller projects because painting this much red and gold can get tedious. I have a pretty simple recipe that involves a copper base coat, gold and a agrax wash. Once that dries I pick out the details and call them done.

Custodes - New Ride

Warhammer 40,000 – Having super elite troops is one of the staples of playing an Adeptus Custodes army. The problem with having super elite troops walking across the table is one bad batch of dice rolls can mean they never make it across the table.

This transport brings some much needed additional mobility to the golden boys. Painting follows the more basic tabletop scheme I painted up a while back.

Building Character - Warhammer 40,000

Warhammer 40,000 – This batch is just a few characters for Warhammer 40k. The special edition Custodes and the special character for the Salamanders chapter.

On the painting table ... Talons of the Emperor

On the painting table ... Talons of the Emperor

Warhammer 40,000 – There's gold in them thar .... Well something like that. I'm working on a large force of Sisters of Silence paired with Adeptus Custodes for a client. This is an army that is almost completely gold with some red highlights. It took me two solid nights to get all the models assembled (minus the magnets for the Dreadnoughts which are to come.) It's been a little while since I had a full army build from the ground up for a completely new army. The sprues for these two armies are identical to the ones that comes in the Burning of Properso box game, so the force really consists of 5 sculpts of each model with variations on weapons. With the Custodes you can swap around the arms to get some variation but the sisters are really just mono-pose with different weapons.
