A detailed account of my various commission/hobby projects.
Warhammer 40,000 – This week I'm going to try out a list I plan on taking to RIW Hobbies Escalation Event. It's an interesting format as you start with 500 points and then add another each round. Essrntially playing a slow grow league in the course of a day. Several other local groups just did escalation leagues so it makes sense to give players a chance to test their mettle in a single day event.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – This week I played another 2v1 game. Which meant I was running two complete 50PL armies, double what I had prepared for. Luckily with power level its super fast to build a list, I grabbed a Chaos Knight 24PL, a terminator sorcerer 6PL, a dark apostle 6PL and 4 units of cultists 3PL each. Quick and easier. whatever they're carrying is what they're armed with and I'm ready to play.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – The first session of my clubs escalation league saw me get throughly trounced. I feel like my Raptors never could effectively alpha strike and when I tried they would get wiped off the board in the following turn. If they could have ever took out their points worth that would have been fine, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Read MoreBoard Games – Ice monsters are fun. The idea of walking along and having something giant pop out of the ground to eat you is pretty scary. I recently saw a trailer for another Tremors movie that takes place in the Arctic. Fun stuff.
Read MoreBoardgames – Last year I worked on a large batch of minis for Lobotomy the board game from Titan Forge games. This was a kickstarted board game that had quite a few add-ons. My client had missed the Kickstarter but was able to track down some of the extras by contacting Titan Forge directly. The results are the next batch of minis to hit my painting table.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Life finds a way ... to change your plans. This week due to unforeseen events what was going to be a full house gaming session turned into a 2v1 battle. I had to had my group for the next session of this league to fight against a combined Imperial Guard/Space Marine force.
Read MoreBoard Games – The Others: Seven Sins is still finding it's way across my paint table. Every time I start a new batch I'm impressed with the creativity behind these sculpts. As board game miniatures they're really nice and some of the larger models would look right at home on a 28mm tabletop battlefield. (which several of my 40k clients mention anytime they see these on my painting table)
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – This week saw the launch of the escalation league I'm running for my local club. I was able to squeeze in three games, so much easier to do at 25PL, and managed to learn a bit about CSM Raptors in the process.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – My clients Adeptus Mechanicus army continues to grow. This batch has a set of five Ruststalkers, a Datasmith and another Kastellan Robot. The paint scheme is the same as the rest of the models in the force with significantly less red than the robed models in the other batches.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I was happy to have some time to work on my first 24PL for the escalation league I'm running. I'm calling these guys done for now. There's a few minor tweaks I want to make before I seal them but in terms of meeting my goal for the first session of our league, I did it.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Sometimes the simplest paint jobs are the best. Astra Militarum are the ground pounding basic infantry of the Imperium. Tanks and numbers are their claim to fame. Sadly you often seen these forces as a sea of grey. I'm not sure if its the color scheme or shear quantity of models but it's rare to see a fully painted Imperial Guard force.

Warhammer 40,000 – The Adeptus Mechanicus force I've been painting continues to grow. This batch sees two additional plasma guns and a Tech-Preistess, which rounds out a basic detachment for my client. The preistess is a Wargames Exclusive model which matches the heads he used on the robots from the last batch.
Warhammer 40,000 – In an effort to completed my resolution of actually finishing a force I've decided to run an escalation league. It's a fun way to motivate everyone to get their stuff painted and play some games.
Read MoreWarhammer - 40,000 – Two more Carnifexes are complete and ready to join the swarm. My client magnetized these so I'll probably be seeing the other arms, heads and carapaces in the future. Since I use the same formula for all these models it's not to hard to match up parts like that after the fact.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I was able to get my Slaanesh Daemons on the table this week. As a first run with a new codex against a Cadian and Scion list they didn't do to horrible. I lost pretty horribly but I can see potential.

Read MoreBoard Games – After being hit with a bunch of snow over the holidays it seems appropriate to work on painting up some mountain climbers and oxygen tanks. These simple miniatures belong to a board game called Dicey Peaks, a press your luck game designed by the same guy who did the Tiny Epic series. Geekdad.com did a really good review of the game if you're interested in learning more.
Read MoreTerrain Building – Last Christmas I received several buildings from Knights of Dice in their Sentry City Chinatown Range. For some reason I had shelved these with some other "rainy-day" projects. I pulled these out while I was looking for another box and decided to make some time to get a simple paint job on them and assemble the buildings so I can use them for some games.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Being able to shoot twice with a bunch of shots that ignore cover is pretty good. Being able to shoot with a model when it dies (even in combat) is really good. Which explains why one of my Black Legion clients is adding a bunch of them to his force.
