A Space Marine Chapter - How I plan to build mine

A Space Marine Chapter - How I plan to build mine

Warhammer 40,000 – One of the things I've been working on since the early 2000's. What started as a bunch of random marines and bits a client traded me for some paint work has blossomed into nearly a full chapter. (Well at least a few companies.) Listening to the Independent Characters recently I realized the latest Space Marine Codex had completely updated how a Company is set up which might change how I lay mine out.

Escalation League - Week 2

Escalation League - Week 2

Warhammer 40,000 – Life finds a way ... to change your plans. This week due to unforeseen events what was going to be a full house gaming session turned into a 2v1 battle. I had to had my group for the next session of this league to fight against a combined Imperial Guard/Space Marine force.

On the painting table ... Top Gun

Warhammer 40,000 – Flight of the Valkyrie has been running through my head. I'm working on four of these planes, I guess they have a decent formation? I'm not really sure as I typically see Vendettas across the table. Never having put these kits together before I have to say I'm impressed. They go together smoothly even though it's the older style of GW kit with vague diagrams and no numbers on the sprue.

Orange is the New Black ... Betrayal at Cath Marines

Warhammer 40,000 – Look who's back. My client with the homebrew space marine chapter just dropped off a Betrayal at Cath box set and Scions Starter for my to paint up. After working with the fantasy terrain for a good while I was glad to be back batch painting marines to a three color standard. There's something satisfying about finishing 30+ dudes in a night.

Rat-A-Tat-Tat ... Razorback Rush

Warhammer 40,000 – I picked up a few variants of the Razorback turrets for my Twilight Ravens, it's pretty useful that they cost the same as the Lascannon which means I don't have to tweak my lists in order to use them. The twin linked assault cannons will work great with the Stormlance formation that I've been running lately. I like the punch the lascannons provide but a few extra shots could make he world of difference against hordes of dudes.

WIP ... Thunder Struck Purple Rain

Warhammer 40,000 – I'm really excited about the Angels of Death supplement, I've been a fan of the Iron Hands rules for a little while and bringing back the "It will not die" on all vehicles in the army is nice. Making an all tank army is a viable option with the added boost the supplement brings to the table.

Big Tanks ... Fellblade WIP

Warhammer 40,000 – I recently came across a very good deal on a Fellblade Super Heavy Tank, I'm not sure how much I'll actually use it but having access to a super-heavy that's considered part of my "faction" will be useful for events that allow Forgeworld but restrict to one faction. Most of the time I'd prefer an Imperial Knight for versatility.

Let there be progress ... Wrapping up orange marines

Warhammer 40,000 – I love being able to move things off the painting table. The first portion of the Orange Marines is done (except for decals and sealant) I spent a bit more time on these than I typically would for a three color job just because most of these models are character and special characters.

Tangerine Marines ... The Characters

Warhammer 40,000 – Jockero Orange is my friend. This nifty color has been the basis for a very large (an ever growing) commission army for one of my favorite clients. Granted it's not flashy or super detailed but working on this job has truly expanded my ability to quickly assemble, base and paint a large number of models in a short amount of time.  This force really represents the most economical way to get a great looking army on the tabletop.

The road to 1500

The road to 1500

Warhammer 40,000 – I've been lacking posts as of late, because I've been focused on two major projects; my Space Marines (which I've been putting off finishing) and an intense demon project for a client. With a 1500 point tournament looming of 3/12 I've been primarily focused on getting my list fully painted. For game nights I'm fine with just getting three colors on the models so I can tell which are mine, but for events I like to have my list fully painted to my personal top standard.

Next Tournament List ... RIW Hobbies 3/12/16

Warhammer 40,000 – There's another local tournament coming up in March, this one has some slightly odd variations (I'm going to just have to accept that outside of my basement playing 40K per the official rules isn't going to happen.) but I settled on a list that I need to get painted and assembled before the event.

Warhammer 40,000 – I'm currently working on a large number of Space Marines as well as several other sets of models. The marines will belong to the Orange Scar list I did earlier this year. My client picked up several boxes to expand his force to be able to run the Kayun formations.

Ready to Ram ... Assembling the Caestus Assault Ram

Warhammer 40,000 – My fingers have a nice crust of scales, you know what that means, I'm been assembling Forgeworld. It seems that every time I put something together from them I wind up with super glue covered fingers. It's probably because of the difficult fit on some of the parts force me to hold in weird places. I should really invest in some bands and clamps to help hold big vehicles like this together during assembly.
