Warhammer 40,000 – Chaos Cultists have become the bane of my existence. Although I shouldn't complain work is work. My client continues to find good deals on cultists which turns into more cultists on my table. This latest batch has 71 of them.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Recently I found a really good deal on a Relic Sicaran Tank on ebay so I decided to add to my collection of Forgeworld items. The Sicaran is a nifty fast tank that has a serious rate of fire and can be upgrade to not to shabby armour. It's pretty reasonably pointed as well and since I love to run Techmarines I can run it with my Landraider Achilles in a fairly balanced 2,000 point list.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Finally I'm through the bulk of the cultists for this chaos space marine commission I've grinding away at. Now I'm starting to see some of the more interesting models for the force. First on the table is Belakor. This nasty beast has a data sheet that allows you to use him as an HQ choice in a chaos space marine or chaos daemon list. A flying monsterous creature with invisibility can ruin your day if you're not expecting it. So my client obviously wants him as a center piece for his army.

Going into it I knew this was supposed to be a super fun casual event. The requirements were to build a battleforged 750 point list. The other limits were it had to be from a single source and Forge World was not allowed.

Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Will the cultists never end? This chaos marine army has been fun to paint since I no longer play chaos marines and sold off most of my stuff to focus on my loyalist chapter, however the fact that there are really only five uniques sculpts for the cultists is getting really old. There's really only so many variations of red, brown and khaki you can do to make these models look slightly different.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Grey Knights, I'm not really sure how I feel about painting them. They seem to be pretty easy and straightforward to paint. But it always feels like they're to plain. Of course once the details are done they look really good. It's just the middle part of painting them that gives me issue.

Read MoreWarhammer 30,000 – So this is probably a bit late, unless you're like me and refuse to buy the Black Library books until they release as mass market paperbacks so they match the rest of the stuff on your shelf. (and a a more reasonable price for a book you'll most likely read once).
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – A little while back I painted up a team of Vindicare Assassins for a client, I had kept them pretty standard looking with just the straps being different colors. Initially he was quite happy with these but after having them on the table he decided he wanted to brighten them up. Part of the issue is he's color blind so it was hard for him to tell them apart.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – The decals are done and these marines are wrapped up. I'm pretty impressed with how quick I was able to get these assembled and painted. The decals were probably the most time consuming part of the process only because I have to wait for the chemicals to do their job and melt the decals to wrap the shoulder pads.
Read MoreHobby Tip – Recently I was at a local art store picking up so supplies for a silk-screening project I'm working on and saw that they had a sale on Montana Gold spray paint. I've heard of it before but never tried it out because of the price and lack of project to use it on.

Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – So less than a year after their initial release we've go a brand new Imperial Knight Codex. I for one am excited. I passed on the original codex because I couldn't stomach painting $30+ for two unit entries that I already got with my $3.99 White Dwarf pamphelt a year ago. This time around I decided to pick it up because the Knights are something I've been thinking about running for a while and I think the limited back story included in the codex is interesting.

I've been making a concerted effort to only build lists with models that I own or have the parts to build already. I've also been making an effort to only play with stuff that is fully painted. (at the minimum I have to have the purple, white and gold on a model)
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I've been playing and painting 40K also exclusively as of late. Not that you couldn't tell based on the current glut of content on this site. Granted I'm not playing 2-3 times a week with a tournament every Saturday like I used to back during the heyday of 3.5 Edition with the special assault rules and god-like Chaos marine book. But I am getting a game in every other week at a minimum and as such am really getting a grasp on the subtleties of seventh edition. I'm still not 100% on all the rules all the time and don't do a whole lot with crazy formations yet. But on the whole I really like the game.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I'm still keeping my head above water, it's crazy every spring I seem to get flooded with a bunch of new commission work, typically it's for a game that just released the previous season or that has recently seen a upsurge in popularity. As of late i've been seeing an awful lot of 40K models come across my table. This seems odd to me as if you believe the interwebs that game might as well be on it's last legs with the amount of "new" games; that play better, are cheaper and generally better designed; that are stepping up to knock the champ off it's proverbial golden throne.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – Storm Ravens have to be my least favorite model to paint. I'm not sure what it is about them the model is really pretty cool looking with a decent amount of detail so it should be quick and easy to paint. But for some reason I just can't get into the groove with them.
