On the painting table ... Khorney Daemons

Warhammer 40,000 – I'm trying to crank through as many of the "when you have time" commissions I have sitting around so I can have a clean plate to start the New Year. Some of my clients already have huge armies and want to add new formations, got stupid good deals on stuff to salvage or just want to start new armies. These clients also tend to not be in a rush to get things back and are just looking for the best price. When I get rush jobs in they move to the front because the client is paying a premium to have their stuff done within a deadline. (Usually for an event).

Batman: The Miniatures Game – I finally picked up the rule book for this and my Suicide Squad starter box arrived so I'm trying to get models to at least a basic minimum paint job before I put it on the table. It's not the most efficient way to paint but for getting things on the table it's quick to block in the colors and put down a wash. Then I can go back and birng them up to a higher level at a later date.

Is it a cult or more of a club?

Warhammer 40,000 – Finally had a minute to start work on my genestealer cult. Not really much progress per say but getting them assembled is my primary goal at the moment. I want to have a solid 1000 points built that will be my core so I can learn to play them  before I invest in more models.

On fire ... DnD Project Progress

Dungeons & Dragons – I'm just aboiut done with these fire demons. It's a bit odd because the models aren't technically sculpted like they're on fire so I'm really just winging it to determine where the hot spots should be and where it cools down to more of an orange from the white and yellow areas. I'm happy with the results and I feel like the models are conveying that made from flame look.

The Wolf Lord Sleighs Again

The Wolf Lord Sleighs Again

Warhammer 40,000 – Just in time for the holidays Logan Grimnar rides across my paint table to bring grim darkness to all the good little Imperial Servants. My Space Wolf client is getting the core of his force just about wrapped up and wanted Logan on and off his sleigh to lead them to battle. The model isn't as ridiculous as it looks, although it does look pretty silly. But who am I to judge space vikings, a rocket powered longboat pulled by wolves makes sense right?

Warhammer 40,000 – The boys in blue make a return to my table. To go along with the rest of the project, I'm working on a Landspeeder Storm and Storm Talon. The Landspeeder was partially assembled incorrectly, so I had to do my best to make it look ok, the plastic glue my client used was to strong of a bond to break apart without damaging so this will be a unique version of the vehicle.

More reading ... Deathstroke and more

Book Reviews – I've been tearing through anything DC related my library network has available. Most recently I tore through all four volumes of the Deathstroke books and I thought they were pretty good. It was weird seeing Rob Liefield art again (with feet in some of the panels). I get why he's the baddest assassin in the DC universe and will probably need to pick up the model for the Batman game just because of that fact.

Dungeon Decor: Stone, Wood and 'Shrooms

Dungeons & Dragons – Painting stone and wood is very relaxing. It's a fairly simple process that while a bit time consuming doesn't require a ton of thought to do and make the models look great. Painting tiny mushrooms and levers not so much. Those require a bit more patience, and a steadier hand to get done to good standard.

The Dark Knight ... wrapping up more Batman Miniatures Game

Batman: The Miniature Game – Moving right along I just finished up a Dark Knight Trilogy Batman model, this is a pretty cool model, of course when a model is primarily black it's tricky to make it stand out (one of the reasons for the Blue/Grey Batman Costume). In the films and "Real Life" all black makes perfect sense when you want to see what the character is doing or to see the details other colors make a bit more sense. I think I might stick with the black and gray scheme of the Bat-Fleck version.

The South Shall Rise Again ... Heavy Gear

Heavy Gear – These have been waiting for a base set for a little while. I wrapped up the first part of this box set a few months ago, however my client had special round bases that he want to use on the smaller models that come with hex bases. After waiting for some time he gave up on getting more of the Shadows of Brimstone bases and gave me some Wyrd 30mm round lip bases to put the Southern Half of his starter on.

Suicide Squad What a Novel Idea.

Book Review – So as you may have noticed from the book shelf in the margin, I've been reading a ton of DC graphic novels. This started as a means to integrate myself in the universe for the Batman Miniatures game and to fill in the numerous blanks I have about the characters in that universe. I always was more of a Marvel guy, however the Marvel game doesn't appeal to me as much as the dark a gritty Batman game does. (maybe that's why I didn't mind the new DCU movies as much, dark and gritty is kind of my thing, hence why I play 40K)

On the painting table ... Stormy Weather

Warhammer 40,000 – Two landspeeder storms and a drop pod are next on the list for my Ultramarine client. Both of these kits fall into the "least favorite to build" category for most gamers so I tend to see many of them come through for either build and paint or just build requests. After you have as many under your belt as I do it becomes quite easy to build them. Of course getting the drop pod doors to line up perfectly is still damn near impossible.
